HAVEN

This honours research project aims to explore self-reflective storytelling as a tool to reignite and reinforce the magical connections between people, wildlife, and their urban environments.

The format of Oracle cards invites the audience to engage with the artwork in their own time and on their own terms forming an evocative space for people to ask questions and reflect.

Oracle Cards

Having risen out of personal discussions about people and the wildlife in their lives, this project builds on existing connections to guide imaginative and explorative thinking beyond the human world.

Defined by how it facilitates emotional engagement, this project is about the inherent importance of other species and how we as can humans fit into and benefit from a more-than human world.

The significance of this project is that plays on our innate desire to better understand ourselves and our purpose within this world.

While Oracle cards are otherworldly, they do act as a mirror for self-reflection. To decolonise the way, we envision the future we must begin by acknowledging the biases within ourselves.

The purpose of this project is to spark the imagination because imagination describes our capacity to visualize a state of things that does not exist but could exist. This fundamental part of hope is the ability to imagine a better future and then having the optimism and confidence to achieve it.
